My buddy Kai!

Imagine with me for a moment. You are approached by a young man, he wants to show you a magic trick, you eagerly watch. The young magician produces his prop, a name tag on a lanyard. He bids you to watch him closely, as he slowly and with much care, winds the lanyard around the name tag. He tells you to wait, as he lifts the hem of his long t-shirt, and makes the lanyard disappear! He triumphantly shows you his empty hands! But wait, the trick isn't done. You wait once more. The magician fantastically reaches down, and once again has prop. You appropriately applaud, his trick has amazed you.
Think you can see the trick? Perhaps I should introduce the magician. His name is Kai, he is between 11 and 13 years old, and he is an orphan in China, and the entire trick was done without a word, since he can't speak English. His name-tag 'magically' disappeared because he tucked it into his pocket, and simply had to remove it to make it reappear. On another occasion he simply threw his prop over his shoulder to make it disappear. Yet the applause is deserved. Not because the trick is amazing, but because Kai is.
Kai was a camper at BMH camp this summer and I had the privilege of meeting him. But this is not the first I had heard of him. Several years ago, he stole my sister's heart, when he was the first kid to call her Mama. He was sweet then, and he is sweet now. Through my two weeks in China, Kai was the only child that called me JieJie (or Big Sister) and he did so often. He called to me one day, just to tell me he loved me. He would often come over to greet me, or give me a hug. His laugh is terrific! He has an incredible imagination. He could often be found playing spy, talking into his (non-existent) watch or his imaginary friends. But he also loved to play with others, playing all the rough and tumble games boys like to play. I wasn't the only one smitten by this kid, most everyone was in love him.
Kai is listed as having a 'low IQ' but the meaning of that can be wide, varied, and not very accurate. It's hard to gauge his learning capacity, he has had little to no schooling, but he is not stupid. He is able to comprehend, understand, and respond.
All in all, Kai is a lovable child, in desperate need of a family. He deserves a family. And somewhere, there is a family that deserves him. Do you know that family? Are you that family? Will you help me find that family?

How can you not love this face!

This is Kai with his camp family, he is all the way on the left.

I have more pictures and videos that I will upload soon.
